American professional wrestler Mercedes Justine Kaestner-Varnado, better known by her ring name ‘Sasha Banks’, is currently a regular WWE main eventer. She was recently involved in some of the most intriguing feuds of her wrestling career with Bianca Belair, and Bayley. On the other hand, Bayley, who once used to be a top-tier woman superstar in SmackDown, has been working more as a part-timer in the women’s division. The chemistry between Sasha Banks and Bayley is a long-running one. They were involved in some grueling feuds in NXT. The feud ended with Sasha Banks holding the NXT Women’s Championship. Banks, in her WWE tenure was undefeated for almost a year of her debut.
In 2017, Sasha Banks aligns with Bayley to form ‘The Boss ‘n’ Hug Collection’. This tag team succeeded to put its hands on the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship titles. The team not only gained success but also received much attention from the wrestling fans. But a betrayal from Bayley’s side has put an end to this team. Later on, they have betrayed each other on several occasions, fought with each other numerous times, and reunited also. Their on-screen chemistry has always drawn the fans’ attention. Are Sasha Banks and Bayley real-life friends?
Bayley talks about her friendship with Banks in a recent ‘The New Day’s podcast‘. She reveals how they have got to know each other. And though, Banks, according to Bayley, did not want a friendship with her, but later on, became a friend of her. Banks states, ‘We were working matches all the time, whether it was in tag matches or against each other. We had a million dark matches in NXT before we started getting on TV. It took a while for us to realize that we could be friends. I think we were both standoffish with each other – it was weird.
I think she didn’t want to be my friend or she already had friends there, because she was there before me’. She also speaks about how they became friends with each other and says,’ Once we started learning that we’re both dorks who loved wrestling since we were 10 years old, and the way we grew up together, that’s when it started being, ‘Alright, she’s kind of cool.’ We kind of found our characters at the same time, so that was very helpful. When we had promos, we could use each other. We can be in each other’s promos and help find each other, so, I’m so lucky. I couldn’t have done that whole pandemic without anybody else.’
These two women wrestlers share a good chemistry on and off the screen, and therefore, there is no doubt that Sasha Banks and Bayley are good friends in real life. Though according to WWE storylines, these two are not on the same page, we are excited to see two good friends start working together in a storyline again.
